James works with Balderton Capital. Prior to joining Balderton, James helped build one of the UK’s first social venture funds, providing support and capital to a portfolio of start-ups with a special focus on the education, healthcare and financial sectors.Before this James worked with entrepreneurs and businesses in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, through a consumer-tech venture fund, the Guardian Media Group and as a consultant with McKinsey & Company. As well as the professional experiences above, James has worked as an adviser to a number of start-ups and social enterprises, and in 2011 as a Specialist Adviser to Parliament. James has an MA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University.
